When you became a mom and made the decision to stay home with your baby, you thought you had it all figured out. You’d create a schedule – which the baby would surely follow – so you could get sleep, work on your business and be focused on your baby the rest of the time. No problem.
That wishful thinking probably lasted for 5 minutes. The baby doesn’t sleep through night. The toddler stops napping and wakes up at 5am leaving you with NO focused time to work. Or you constantly hear “Come play with me, Mommy” from your only child which sends a dagger through your guilt-ridden heart as you try to finish a client project before the deadline.
Been there, Mama!
Let’s face it, we want to do it all, have it all, be it all. I’m here to tell you, having it all isn’t the goal. The goal is to have exactly what YOU want. What makes you FEEL fulfilled and content and successful. What gives you ease in your life. I know the kids may have left you feeling like “ease” is a word in other people’s vocabularies and not yours. I’m here to tell you that “ease” is a state of mind and is, in fact achievable.
I’m not kidding.
Here’s what I’ve learned on this journey as a Mamapreneur: the Type A planning needs to be set aside for a while. I’m sorry to disappoint all you fellow perfectionistic, “I can do it all myself” peeps. I know that you don’t want to hear that but it’s true. When kids are young, you have to change your expectations a bit.
That doesn’t have to mean that you sacrifice what you want.
It means you DECIDE what you want to FEEL in your life and what is important to you and CREATE the life you want based on that information. It involves being intentional, not reactive.
This is not an end-all decision here. Life with young kids at home doesn’t last forever. It will be gone all too soon and you’ll be missing the days of 5am snuggles.
This is one of many seasons of your life and it’s a never-to-be-repeated time. Don’t miss out on the joy and beauty of it by stressing about your business and pushing…pushing…PUSHING to get more, be more and have more.
This was my life for a long time: Fighting. Pushing. Doing. Trying…and failing. Feeling guilty for not doing enough for my business. Guilty for sitting at my computer when my daughter is home. Guilty for setting her up to watch Sesame Street while I dare attempt to take a client call. Guilt over needing childcare 2 days a week so I can focus. Overwhelmed at all of the things that I “should” be doing that I don’t have time to do. WHY?
The truth is, I’m home with my girl. That was my dream. It was and still is my non-negotiable. And I’m doing it. I’m not going to lie and say the guilt is gone. But I will say it’s getting less and less the more I own the role I play in my family and value my own worth.
You are setting the foundation for your business. There will be time to amp it up. Patience. Baby steps. Remember, there is no end to this journey.
Work with me
I currently have 2 coaching options for transforming your overwhelmed life into a PRIORITIZED one.
Prioritized Life Planning Session
In this 90-minute session we will look at your life and your business and create a Prioritized Life plan for you. We’re going to analyze everything you do for your family and for your business and see if it’s in alignment with the life that you want. We’ll find adjustments that you can make to feel more ease and content in your life, where it’s at right now. Together we will design a life that honors YOUR priorities.
Prioritized Life Transformation Series
If you feel you need more ongoing help, this is the program for you. We’ll start with the 90 minute session described above and follow up with 2 additional 60 min sessions spread out over the course of 2 months. We’ll create your plan together and I will be there to support you with implementing it.
Let’s face it, stuff comes up in daily life that can derail your plan and leave you feeling like a failure. In our follow up sessions, we can address these challenges. You will gain the strength to keep going and continue making the changes you want to make. You’ll also get unlimited email access to me during the entire length of the series.
One thing that I’ve learned on this journey is that when left to figure things out on my own, I almost lost my business. It wasn’t profitable. I was “working” all the time and missing the joy of the life I was trying to create. It was only after hiring a coach that things turned around. Being a stay at home mom can be overwhleming. Being a solopreneur can be isolating. Put those together and it’s a recipe for a loneliness, guilt, overwhelm and failure. I’m here to tell you,
YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO IT ALONE!
If you’re on the fence, let’s set up a 20-min Discovery Call to chat. I know how you’re feeling right now. I’m here to tell you that it’s normal. You just need a little help.
